Surgery Scheduler

OVERVIEW Schedule and register patients for procedures, ensure documents are included appropriately in the medical record, and obtain patient signatures for treatment and billing purposes. Escalate problems as needed in a timely manner. Act as a liaison with the billing company to provide documents needed to support surgical care and billing. SKILLS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS High school diploma or equivalent. Good communication skills both verbal and written. Computer skills. Legible handwriting. Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred. One year previous experience as clerk/receptionist in a healthcare setting preferred. CPR Certification is preferred. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Interact with all persons in a considerate, helpful, courteous, and timely manner. Communicate effectively regarding all aspects of job responsibilities. Be able to work with people from diverse socio-economic backgrounds. Organize, set priorities, manage multiple priorities, and readily adapt to a rapidly changing environment. Understand and adhere to assigned access to Protected Health Information in accordance with HIPAA and the policies of the Organization. Understand and adhere to the Organization’s Standards of Conduct. Perform clerical duties within established procedural guidelines. Demonstrate role accountability. Serve as a professional role model. Be self-directed and able to work independently. Attend and participate in all applicable surgery center training scheduled by the facility. Maintain work area and equipment in an orderly manner. Maintains dress and appearance according to standards as observed by management.
