. This on-site, contract position offers a rewarding opportunity to provide high-quality cancer care and treatment for patients with hematologic and oncologic conditions in a collaborative healthcare environment.

As a Locum Hematology Oncologist, you will be responsible for evaluating patients, developing treatment plans, and delivering advanced therapeutic interventions including chemotherapy and immunotherapy. Working on-site at our Pendleton facility, you will partner with a multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals to ensure comprehensive, patient-centered care for every individual. This contract role is well-suited for an associate-level physician seeking immediate clinical impact and professional flexibility in a locum tenens capacity.

 

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat patients with hematologic malignancies and solid tumor cancers
• Develop and implement individualized chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapy treatment plans
• Conduct comprehensive patient consultations, physical examinations, and follow-up assessments
• Interpret laboratory results, imaging studies, and pathology reports to guide clinical decisions
• Administer and monitor chemotherapy infusions and manage treatment-related side effects
• Collaborate with surgeons, radiologists, pathologists, and palliative care specialists to coordinate patient care
• Document all patient encounters accurately and maintain timely electronic medical records
• Participate in tumor boards, case conferences, and multidisciplinary care planning sessions
• Provide education and emotional support to patients and their families regarding diagnosis and treatment options
• Manage acute and chronic complications of cancer therapy, including neutropenia, anemia, and thrombocytopenia
• Ensure compliance with clinical protocols, safety standards, and medical regulatory requirements
• Coordinate referrals and transitions of care with community providers and specialty services

Requirements

• Medical Doctor (MD) degree or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution
• Board certification or board eligibility in Hematology, Oncology, or Hematology/Oncology
• Active, unrestricted medical license in the applicable jurisdiction
• Associate-level experience in hematology and oncology clinical practice
• Completion of an accredited residency program in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in Hematology/Oncology
• Strong clinical diagnostic and treatment planning skills in oncology and hematology
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with patients, families, and healthcare teams
• Ability to work independently in an on-site clinical setting while functioning well within a team
• Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems and clinical documentation standards
• Commitment to compassionate, evidence-based, and patient-centered care delivery
• Ability to manage a high-volume caseload in a fast-paced medical practice environment
• Current CPR/BLS certification and adherence to infection control and safety protocols

Schedule: Monday-Thursday (8a-5p), 1 week per month

No call requirement

Setting: Outpatient

Patient Volume: 15-18 per day plus biopsies, 1-3 consults per week

Responsibilities: Hospital-based outpatient care and chemotherapy program director/provider

Required Procedures: Bone marrow biopsies

Support Staff: Hematology oncology-trained ARNP, nurses

EMR: ECW and MediTech

Must be board-certified or board-eligible

Additional Required Certifications: BLS and DEA
