ACCOUNTING ASSISTANT – (AP) & (AR)

Location: Odessa, TX
Employment Type: Direct Hire, Full-Time
Start Date: ASAP

Pay: $21/hr

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Assistant to support our finance team by managing Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) functions. The ideal candidate is dependable, accurate, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing/fabrication environment while maintaining confidentiality and ensuring timely, accurate financial transactions.

Responsibilities

Accounts Payable

• Process vendor invoices accurately and in a timely manner
• Verify invoices, purchase orders, and payment requests
• Prepare and process weekly check runs and electronic payments
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve payment discrepancies
• Maintain organized AP files and records

Accounts Receivable

• Prepare and issue customer invoices
• Process customer payments and apply payments to accounts
• Monitor outstanding balances and follow up on past-due accounts
• Reconcile customer accounts and resolve billing discrepancies
• Assist with monthly AR reporting and collections

General Accounting

• Assist with monthly bank and account reconciliations
• Maintain accurate financial records and documentation
• Prepare journal entries and support month-end closing activities
• Generate financial reports as requested
• Answer vendor and customer inquiries professionally
• Assist with audits and other accounting projects as needed
• Perform general administrative duties to support the accounting department

Job Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, or general accounting
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, or similar ERP)
• Strong mathematical, organizational, and analytical skills
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently
• Reliable and able to work locally in the Odessa, TX area

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
• Experience with ERP or accounting systems
• Knowledge of GAAP and basic accounting principles
• Experience with payroll processing
