Bridge Engineer / Project Bridge Designer

GFT is seeking a Bridge Engineer / Project Bridge Designer to join our Transportation group in Boston, MA. This role follows a hybrid work model, based in Boston. What you’ll be challenged to do:GFT has an opening for a Bridge Engineer/ Project Bridge Designer to engage in structural design, rehabilitation, analysis and load rating of bridges as well as the inspection of bridges and tunnels, preparation of construction documents, specifications, and estimates. This position is open to candidates with between 4 – 6 years of experience. Day-to-day assignments and technical guidance will be provided by Project Managers and Senior Project Engineers.  In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:Participating in bridge design assignments involving contract plans preparation and specifications, design calculations, calculation of quantities and development of cost estimates.Performing load rating analyses and preparation of load rating reports.Office support for construction support services.Performing bridge and tunnel inspections and preparation of inspection reports.Reviewing shop drawing submittals. Organize submittals and address questions from contractors during the construction phase of projects.Assist or participate in the preparation of business proposals.What you will bring to our firm: Bachelor’s and/or Master’s Degree in Civil and/or Structural Engineering with an emphasis in structures from an ABET-accredited university or college.4-6 yrs of experience in bridge design.Experience in new bridge design, bridge rehabilitation, load ratings and/or inspection of bridges.Experience with structural design software such as AASHTOWare BrR, Midas 3D Civil, STAAD Pro, MDX, CSiBridge, LUSAS and/or other structural analysis software and applications such as MathCAD.Working knowledge of reading plans and shop drawings and evaluating contractor compliance with construction plans and specifications.Team oriented engineer and strong communicator with ability to work concurrently within multiple projects demands and transitioning priorities.Working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), AutoCAD/Civil 3D and/or MicroStation.Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.Valid Driver's License.Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.What we prefer you bring: Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.Professional Engineer License (PE).Compensation:The salary range for this role is $91,000 - $110,000; Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.Featured Benefits:Hybrid (in-person and remote) work environment.Comprehensive benefits package including wellness programs, parental leave, and pet insurance, in addition to medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance.Tax-deferred 401(k) savings plan.Competitive paid-time-off (PTO) accrual.Tuition reimbursement for continued education.Commitment to professional development, access to internal and external training programs, and support of active participation in professional organizations.Incentive compensation for eligible positions.At GFT, a privately held AEC firm, we innovate where transportation, water, power and buildings converge.
