Role Description The Pipeline Safety Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Pittsburgh Region, responsible for supporting safe pipeline operations and compliance with applicable safety and environmental regulations. Day-to-day tasks include conducting field safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments along pipeline routes and facilities, and documenting findings with clear reports and recommendations. The specialist develops and delivers safety training to operational staff and contractors, reinforces safe work practices, and participates in toolbox talks and safety meetings. This role also leads or supports accident and incident investigations, identifying root causes, recommending corrective actions, and tracking follow-up activities. Additional responsibilities include maintaining safety records, collaborating with operations and maintenance teams on hazard mitigation, monitoring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements, and assisting with emergency response planning and drills.
Qualifications

Qualifications
- Strong foundation in health and safety principles, including Health & Safety and Occupational Health, with the ability to apply them in pipeline and field operations.
- Experience with Environment Health and Safety (EHS) programs, including regulatory compliance, risk assessment, and environmental impact awareness.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver effective Safety Training, develop training materials, and engage diverse field and operations teams.
- Accident Investigation skills, including incident analysis, root cause determination, and development of corrective and preventive actions.
- Knowledge of pipeline or industrial safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, DOT/PHMSA) and industry best practices.
- Relevant education such as an associate or bachelor’s degree in safety, engineering, environmental science, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for reports, procedures, and training, and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to perform field work in varying conditions, travel within the Greater Pittsburgh Region as needed, and use standard safety and inspection tools.
- Professional safety certifications (e.g., CSP, ASP, CHST, or similar) are beneficial but not required.
