Accounting Technician II

Summary Description BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina invites applicants to join a long‑standing, community‑focused organization that is a leader in government contract administration and data processing. Position Purpose Under general supervision, perform routine to moderately complex clerical and accounting functions, including inventory balancing, reconciliations, refund request letters, disbursements, deposits, journal entries, and records management in accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, or related financial areas. May complete special projects. Logistics Location: PGBA, a BlueCross BlueShield subsidiary in South Carolina. Full‑time, 40 hours per week, 8:00AM – 5:00PM. Qualified local candidates only. U.S. citizenship required; no sponsorships. What You’ll Do Prepare financial data for refunds, invoices, recoupments, adjustments, cash disbursements, deposits, check voids, disputes, and related correspondence. Verify data completeness, accuracy, and organization for processing. Provide daily, weekly, and/or monthly summary reports to supervisors. Conduct moderately difficult research using financial systems and other resources to identify errors such as overpayments or misapplications of funds. Resolve routine questions and direct complex issues to higher levels. Perform calculations on financial documents to ensure accuracy of deposits, receipts, disbursements, refunds, and other accounting‑related items. Support accounting/finance functions, including monitoring systems, keying journal entries, tracking funds, balancing accounts, maintaining inventory, and receiving cash funds from customers. Assist less experienced accounting clerks as needed. Prepare and distribute correspondence regarding monies due or erroneously received. Issue refunds as appropriate. To Qualify for This Position Required Education: Associate’s degree in a related field. Required Experience: Minimum 2 years of related work experience. Required Software: Microsoft Office. Required Skills: Good oral and written communication and customer service skills, excellent organization and attention to detail, strong business math skills.
