Vernara LLC is a growing, reputable civil construction contractor specializing in municipal public works, concrete flatwork, sidewalks, excavation, sod installation, and site development projects across the DFW area. We partner with cities such as Fort Worth, Lewisville, and other North Texas municipalities, delivering high-quality infrastructure improvements under public contracts.

We are seeking an experienced Civil Works Estimator to join our team and play a key role in our continued growth. This is a critical position responsible for producing accurate, competitive bids for public and private civil construction projects.

Position Summary:

The Civil Works Estimator will be responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates for public works, TXDOT, NTTA, and commercial civil construction projects. The ideal candidate has strong experience bidding heavy civil and site development work and thrives in a fast-paced environment where accuracy, attention to detail, and deadline management are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare comprehensive bids for public works, TXDOT, NTTA, and commercial projects including concrete, utilities, pavement, earthwork, sidewalks, and related civil scopes.
• Analyze project plans, specifications, and contract documents to develop accurate quantity takeoffs and cost estimates.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes.
• Identify project risks, opportunities, and value engineering options.
• Maintain detailed estimate records and support project handoff to operations.
• Stay current with local market conditions, material pricing, and labor rates in the DFW area.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits as required.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Extensive experience as an Estimator with a civil construction contractor (minimum 5+ years strongly preferred).
• Proven track record preparing bids for Public Works, TXDOT, NTTA, and commercial projects .
• Strong ability to read and interpret civil construction plans and specifications.
• Thorough familiarity with civil construction means and methods, including utilities, pavement, bridges, earthwork, concrete, and site work .
• Background in Civil Engineering is preferred.
• Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., HeavyBid, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
