Accounting Manager

The HT Group is seeking an Accounting Manager for a construction client in the Dallas area. You will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, managing the month-end close process, maintaining the general ledger, and providing financial analysis to support business decisions.

Responsibilities:

• Manage the full-cycle month-end and year-end close process, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, variance analysis, and preparation of financial statements
• Maintain the general ledger and prepare balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy, GAAP compliance, and timely resolution of discrepancies
• Process and reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoice coding, payments, and vendor/customer account balances
• Prepare and distribute weekly and monthly financial reports while developing and maintaining Excel-based reporting, forecasting, and analysis tools
• Partner with Project Managers and Operations to monitor job costs, work in progress (WIP), project schedules, profitability, and equipment costs
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, fixed asset schedules, and depreciation tracking
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, GAAP, and applicable federal and state regulations
• Coordinate with external accountants and auditors for year-end audits, tax preparation, and financial statement reviews
• Support certified payroll and prevailing wage reporting, as required by contract
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting efficiency, and financial controls
• Perform other accounting and financial duties as assigned by the VP of Finance

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
• 3–5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including full-cycle month-end close, general ledger accounting, and financial reporting
• Experience in construction, paving, or another project-based environment
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial statement preparation
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including developing and maintaining complex spreadsheets, reports, and financial analysis
• Experience preparing and presenting weekly and monthly financial and operational reports
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present financial information to non-financial stakeholders
• Trimble, Viewpoint, Sage 300 CRE, or similar ERP systems – experience preferred
• Experience with certified payroll and prevailing wage reporting – preferred
