Digital Adoption & Implementation Consultant [Remote]

Overview

Reporting to the Vice President of Strategic Planning and Performance, the Digital Adoption & Implementation Consultant leads enterprise adoption and implementation strategies for large-scale process, system, and operational changes for Dana-Farber. This role is responsible for developing and executing change management approaches that support complex institutional priorities, particularly for the BILH collaboration, MGB separation, new cancer hospital building, and related digital and operational transformation efforts. The position will drive key organizational readiness activities for the Technology and Data & Analytics (TDA) workgroup, work closely with the Epic Change Management teams at Dana-Farber and BILH, collaborate with change management resources across the institute, and partner with Workday Digital Adoption, Enablement, and Operations to align adoption planning across major platforms and workflows. The role requires strong strategic, consultative, and execution capabilities to prepare leaders, managers, and staff for secure, sustained adoption of new processes and technologies.

This is a capitalized temporary position with full benefits that is expected to run for 24-36 months with the possibility of extension.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Partners with leadership on high-priority institutional efforts, including the BILH collaboration, MGB separation, and new cancer hospital, to assess readiness impacts, identify adoption risks, and coordinate scaled implementation approaches across affected departments and teams.
• Leads adoption and implementation strategy for major enterprise initiatives, translating strategic objectives into structured readiness, stakeholder engagement, communications, training, and sustainment plans that support successful operational execution with constant attention to information security.
• Works closely with the Epic change management teams at Dana-Farber and BILH to support enterprise readiness planning, stakeholder alignment, workflow adoption, and implementation support for disease center waves and Epic-to-Epic conversion. Collaborate with Workday Digital Adoption, Enablement, and Operations to align approaches, tools, and lessons learned across platforms as they evolve.
• Designs and facilitates stakeholder analyses, readiness assessments, impact assessments, workshops, sponsor alignment sessions, and other structured activities to clarify change implications, build leadership ownership, and support successful adoption at all levels of the organization. Leads the Change Ambassador Council, comprised of selected DFCI and BILH resources, to drive successful change across both organizations.
• Develops and maintains adoption methodologies, templates, toolkits, communication assets, training support materials, and implementation frameworks that strengthen institutional capability and promote consistent approaches to change across initiatives. Helps build and support a centralized digital adoption function in Information Services to proactively spearhead constant growth and change in technology impacting digital, clinical, and business functions.
• Establishes adoption metrics, dashboards, and feedback mechanisms to evaluate implementation progress, measure behavior and process adoption, identify barriers, and recommend corrective actions or sustainment strategies based on data and stakeholder input.
• Serves as a strategic advisor to project leaders, operational leaders, and executive stakeholders by providing consultation, coaching, and recommendations related to adoption planning, risk mitigation, resource needs, governance, and implementation sequencing.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Deep knowledge of organizational adoption, change management, implementation planning, and operational readiness principles in complex, matrixed environments, with the ability to assess organizational impacts, identify adoption barriers, define mitigation strategies, and align communications, training, sponsorship, and sustainment activities to implementation goals.
• Demonstrated ability to lead large-scale, high-impact, cross-functional initiatives involving process redesign, technology implementation, and stakeholder alignment, including the ability to influence senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders without direct authority and build alignment across departments, teams, and partner organizations.
• Strong project and program collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively alongside project managers, operational leaders, technical teams, vendors, and external institutional partners.
• Strong understanding of enterprise system implementation and adoption, including EHR, ERP, digital workflow, and related governance models; experience with Epic, Workday, and Microsoft 365 environments strongly preferred. Experience in Information Services, Information Technology, Digital, or a similar function highly preferred.
• Excellent strategic thinking skills, including the ability to connect institutional priorities with practical implementation approaches and phased execution plans.
• Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data, identify root causes, develop hypotheses, and recommend actionable solutions.
• Advanced communication skills, including the ability to translate complex technical or operational changes into clear messages tailored to executives, managers, frontline staff, and external partners.
• Strong facilitation and presentation skills, including experience leading workshops, executive discussions, stakeholder sessions, and readiness reviews.
• Skilled at creating effective training support materials, communication assets, adoption dashboards, and implementation tools that promote consistency and user understanding.
• High level of judgment, professionalism, and adaptability, with the ability to manage ambiguity, shifting priorities, and sensitive organizational changes with discretion and composure.

Minimum Job Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration , Organizational Development, Organizational Psychology, Information Systems, Healthcare Administration, Project Management, Communications, Education, or a related field required.
• Master's degree in Business Administration , Organizational Development, Organizational Psychology, Information Systems, Healthcare Administration, Project Management, Communications, Education, or a related field preferred.
• 8 years of progressively responsible experience leading business process, system, technology, or operational implementation and adoption efforts in a large, complex organization required.
• Experience leading large-scale, cross-functional change initiatives in healthcare, academic medicine, research, or similarly matrixed environments required.
• Experience supporting enterprise system adoption efforts such as Epic, Workday, or other major ERP/EHR platforms required.

License/Certification/Registration Required:

• Formal training and certification in an organizational adoption or change management methodology required (e.g., PMBOK, Prosci/ADKAR, ACMP, Kotter, or equivalent).
• Project Management Certifications preferred.

Pay Transparency Statement

The hiring range is based on market pay structures, with individual salaries determined by factors such as business needs, market conditions, internal equity, and based on the candidate’s relevant experience, skills and qualifications.

For union positions, the pay range is determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
