Job Overview:
The surgical technician will work alongside the perioperative registered nurse as part of a team to provide tailored, age-appropriate care to patients.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Completion of a nationally or regionally accredited surgical technologist educational program OR
- Possession and maintenance of a certified surgical technologist credential from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting or another recognized credentialing body.
Certifications and Licenses Required (if applicable):
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Successful completion of all Orientation and Departmental Programs with appropriate documentation
Scheduling Requirements (non-exempt positions):
- Full-Time, Monday - Friday, 7 AM - 3 PM
- 37.5 hours per week
Essential Functions:
- Ensure a safe environment that promotes positive patient outcomes.
- Monitor and respond to patients' physiological reactions during surgery in the surgical suite and throughout the perioperative process.
- Collaborate with the perioperative registered nurse to deliver individualized, age-specific patient care.
- Anticipate the needs for surgical instruments and equipment during procedures, adapting smoothly to any deviations from the norm.
- Adhere to all safety protocols to mitigate fire risks in the operating room, including those related to laser and electrosurgery.
