Developmental - Medical Device Reprocessing Technician (Edson)

Job Summary We have an excellent opportunity for a Developmental Role as a Surgical Processor at Edson Health Care Centre. You perform an essential service within the health care setting by providing protected, clean surgical equipment for physicians and healthcare team. Surgical Processors collect, disassemble, decontaminate, disinfect, assemble, function test, package, sterilize, store and distribute instruments, equipment and supplies used in surgical units. You will ensure instrumentation and equipment is in proper working order, perform biological, chemical and quality assurance testing, and report problems to the supervisor or designate. The individual in this position also assembles and provides surgical supply sets and carts as ordered for scheduled and emergency surgeries, conducts inventories, monitors, orders, replenishes and rotates supplies in their work areas. As a trainee, you assist in the sterilization of medical equipment and instruments in accordance with Alberta Health Services standards and practices. You will work under the supervision of a Surgical Processor, use the principles of aseptic technique, and follow Universal Precautions in the prevention of Hospital Acquired Infections (HAI). You are comfortable working independently, have a sharp eye for detail, and take pride in ensuring all medical devices are handled properly.
