Steel Project Manager

Structural Steel Project Manager Wage Range: $100K+ DOE With over 50 years in the construction industry, Agate Steel provides value‑driven services while maintaining a safe, innovative, and engaging workplace. The Project Manager is the primary leader, directly accountable for safety, financial performance, and team development throughout a project. The Project Manager leads the project team in the fabrication and erection of the entire project, providing effective leadership to the project staff and ensuring quality and timely completion. Candidate should have strong communication skills, be comfortable multitasking, and have experience using Microsoft Office, Blue Beam (or similar). The role requires solid written communication skills, detail orientation, and high organization. The candidate will collaborate with the estimating team to establish and foster positive long‑term relationships with clients and construction partners, professionally represent Agate, and support company initiatives that exceed client expectations. Key Responsibilities Provide leadership, guidance, and assistance with project and client development demands Maintain thorough understanding of Agate Steel's contracts and maintain detailed Contract Status Reports Review and assist in negotiations of contracts Train and monitor progress of all project engineers Review and manage all Project Controls; monitor budget and schedules of projects to minimize fee erosion and scope creep; escape concerns to Agate Steel's leadership team Financial review and manage all project financials Develop and maintain effective relationships with vendors, trade partners, and owners to represent Agate Steel's core values Effectively manage 3-4 projects at one time depending on size and complexity Review steel erection bid packages for completeness, accuracy, or reasonableness Analyze blueprints and documentation to estimate time Consult with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates and closeout procedures Prepare estimates used by management for planning, organizing, and scheduling fabrication Prepare cost and expenditure statements and other necessary documentation at regular intervals for the duration of the project Compute cost by analyzing shop labor and material requirements as well as erection labor Check fabrication and field drawings for compatibility with contract drawings Qualifications Minimum 5 to 15 years of relevant steel experience Hands‑on shop and field experience Proficiency in reading and coordinating contract drawings is a must Experience dealing with subcontracts and trade partners is required Viewpoint, Vista, Tekla/FabSuite, Blue Beam, and Excel computer skills is highly desirable A strong work ethic and a “can‑do” attitude is a must Benefits Medical – Choice of plans with generous company contribution Dental & Vision – Choice of plans available Life Insurance – 100% paid by Agate 401(k) – Retirement savings plan with a generous company match Direct Deposit – Convenient deposit of your net pay into your bank account or pay card Holidays – 8 paid holidays Paid Time Off – generous vacation and sick leave plans Agate Steel is an equal opportunity employer and contractor.
