Development Manager

Job Description The Development Manager oversees multifamily projects from due diligence and entitlement through design, construction, completion and lease-up. Working within a vertically integrated developer, this person coordinates internal investment, construction and property management teams alongside architects, engineers, contractors, lenders and public agencies. \n \n The role requires someone who can keep a project’s financial plan, approvals and delivery schedule aligned, identify risks early and drive decisions across the full development cycle. \n \n Key Responsibilities \n \n Manage development schedules, budgets, cash flow forecasts and project reporting from predevelopment through stabilization. \n Lead due diligence on prospective sites, including zoning, utilities, environmental conditions, site constraints and development feasibility. \n Coordinate entitlement, permitting and agency approvals with legal counsel, consultants and local authorities. \n Manage architects and engineers through design development and construction documents, resolving scope, cost and constructability issues with the internal construction team. \n Review contractor pricing, support procurement and value engineering, and help negotiate contracts and major project commitments. \n Track development costs, contingencies, schedule risks and changes against the approved business plan. \n Coordinate lender draws, inspections, reporting and other financing requirements with the finance and construction teams. \n Maintain clear communication with ownership and internal stakeholders on progress, decisions, risks and financial performance. \n Work with construction and property management teams on completion, turnover, pre-leasing and the transition to operations. \n \n \n Qualifications \n \n Experience managing ground-up multifamily development projects through several stages of the development cycle. \n Strong understanding of entitlement, design coordination, construction delivery, development budgets and project schedules. \n Ability to review plans and consultant work, challenge assumptions and coordinate technical specialists.
