Administrative Technician

The City of Virginia Beach is seeking a detail-oriented Administrative Technician to support Child Welfare and administrative teams. This role focuses on clerical support, records management, meeting coordination, and general office operations. The ideal candidate is organized, professional, and comfortable working with confidential information.

Pay: $19.48/hour

Schedule: MondayFriday, 8:30 AM 5:00 PM

Location: City of Virginia Beach

Key Responsibilities

• Take meeting minutes and prepare correspondence, reports, spreadsheets, and presentations
• Enter and maintain accurate data and tracking logs
• Prepare and mail certified and regular correspondence
• Schedule meetings and coordinate administrative activities
• Assist with onboarding and training materials for new staff
• Maintain databases for training records, certifications, and staff competencies
• Respond to internal and external inquiries in a professional manner
• Coordinate with internal departments on records requests, audits, FOIA, and appeals
• Manage case files, including opening, filing, transferring, and closing records
• Track case activity using electronic systems

Qualifications

• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Clear written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with data entry, filing, and office software (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
• Previous administrative or clerical experience preferred

Minimum Requirements:

Requires any combination of education above high school level and/or experience equivalent to (2) four years in the fields utilizing the required knowledge skills and abilities
