Title: Wildlife Habitat Coordinator (Conservation Biologist Supervisor) Location: Forsyth County, United States Overview The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission is seeking a Wildlife Habitat Coordinator to lead and coordinate programs that integrate wildlife management principles into land management practices on private lands throughout North Carolina. This role will support conservation efforts, partner with state and national initiatives, and oversee land-based messaging and outreach. Primary Responsibilities Lead Wildlife Management Division (WMD) efforts in integrating wildlife management principles into private land management practices. Provide guidance for habitat conservation and management in alignment with priority species, habitats, and actions identified in the State Wildlife Action Plan. Collaborate with Communication, Marketing, and Digital Engagement staff to market and communicate agency programs directed toward habitat management on private lands. Coordinate and administer the Wildlife Conservation Land Program (WCLP), including final review and approval of Wildlife Habitat Conservation Agreements (WHCAs) and record maintenance. Serve as the agency representative to state, regional, and national initiatives related to wildlife habitat management. Serve as primary agency contact for integrating U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Bill programs into effective land management tools and advise staff on Farm Bill processes and procedures. Provide supervision and administrative support to a full‑time wildlife biologist assisting with statewide habitat coordination efforts. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Advanced understanding of scientific methods, biological techniques, zoology, botany, statistics, forestry, and ecology. Motivational and personnel management skills to guide staff under direct supervision and co‑workers toward changing program goals. Excellent communication skills for coordinating with resource professionals, relaying technical information to employees and the public. Experience with personal computers and mapping software. Strong organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail. Other Requirements A valid North Carolina driver’s license is required within 90 days of employment. This is a home‑based position with a workstation in the employee’s home office. Home office space must comply with WRC and State policies. Work schedule is Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week, with frequent daily travel and occasional overnight stays. Salary range: $70,478 – $85,000. Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in wildlife or fisheries management, fisheries science, zoology, biological science, or a closely related field, plus four years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
