Title: Occupational Health Nurse Grade: 34 – Salary: $104,000–$130,000 Location: Battleground Manufacturing Complex – La Porte, TX Closing date: July 31, 2026 Organizational Context INEOS is a global manufacturer of petrochemicals, specialty chemicals and oil products. The INEOS Olefins & Polymers USA business contributes significantly to North American chemical manufacturing, with an annual capacity of 9.6 billion pounds of petrochemicals. The Battleground Manufacturing Complex (BMC) in La Porte, TX produces high‑density polyethylene and polypropylene, with a combined annual capacity of approximately 3 billion pounds. Purpose of the job This role is part of the Safety, Health and Environmental team at BMC and focuses on workplace safety. The Occupational Health Nurse (OHN) works closely with site leadership and employees on medical and associated programs, providing care for workplace‑related injuries and illnesses while ensuring compliance with OSHA, Texas Department of Health, CDC, HIPAA, FMLA, and DOT regulations. Responsibilities and Accountabilities Accountability 1: Health hazard assessment and surveillance Work under the medical direction of the designated licensed site Medical Director. Perform medical tests (pulmonary function, phlebotomy, cardiograms, audiograms, drug testing, equipment calibration, and maintain logs). Evaluate laboratory results for clearance with Medical Director approval for required surveillance programs. Screen new and prospective employees, including physical examination, vision & hearing tests, and drug/alcohol screening. Assess and administer care for injuries and emergencies. Handle Return‑to‑Work releases, injuries, and illnesses appropriately. Advise employees on disease prevention programs (smoking cessation, exercise, healthy eating). Provide clinical care for both work‑related and non‑work‑related injuries and illnesses. Dispense medical supplies and maintain documentation. Administer vaccines such as Flu and Hepatitis. Collaborate with Human Resources to manage workers’ compensation and short‑term disability cases. Provide training and feedback on medical responses to ECAs, EMTs, and EMS. Manage after‑hours injuries unless delegated to other staff or contractors. Ensure annual physical exams for employees are completed on time under Medical Director guidance. Provide CPR/AED classes as needed. Participate in cross‑site medical care program reviews and development (may require travel). Accountability 2: Medical Administration Educate the workforce on health promotion, injury prevention, and hazard protection. Ensure medical procedures and records meet regulatory requirements. Suggest procedural changes or innovations to improve workplace safety. Accept after‑hours on‑call duties for injury care under guidance of the site Medical Director. Accountability 3: Case management of occupational and non‑occupational injuries and illnesses Assist with medical investigations of injury or illness circumstances. Coordinate medical information for workers’ compensation and disability claims. Serve as the gatekeeper for other health‑care services, including rehabilitation and disability matters. Skills & Knowledge Required Education/Experience Minimum 2 years as a registered nurse in occupational health. Passed the NCLEX‑RN examination. American Board for Occupational Health Nurses certification preferred. Graduate‑level education in Occupational Health Nursing (OHN) is a plus. Technical Skills Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Proficient in medical databases. Knowledge of workplace hazards and Safety Health & Environmental procedures. Expertise in medical & document retention policies and related regulations (OSHA, HIPAA, FMLA, DOT, etc.). Behavioral Skills Proven problem‑solving skills. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Strong organizational skills. Develop medical articles for the site monthly newsletter and coordinate health initiatives such as weight‑loss competitions. Team player who collaborates well with others and participates in INEOS asset care programs. Flexible and self‑starter. Dependable and detail‑oriented.
