The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Rheumatology, Allergy and Immunology is seeking either a Research Assistant or Senior Research Assistant to assist with the coordination of laboratory projects or research studies in a particular discipline, make independent contributions to projects and studies based on professional training or functional experience. Final rank will be commensurate with experience. Essential Functions Independently perform experiments and record data according to research protocols. May maintain and oversee animal colony management and animal husbandry. Solve problems using combined research knowledge. Analyze research results. Interpret data and assist in judging validity of data. Organize data search and analysis procedures. Assist in establishing test controls, criteria and research standards. Assist with the design of complex data processing systems to analyze research data. Accomplish assigned results for projects/studies, or for significant aspects of larger, complex assignments. Serve as seasoned professional. May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non‑exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.). Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time. Research Assistant Required Education Bachelor’s Degree. Four (4) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement. Required Experience Additional related work experience may be required depending on field or discipline. Additional Qualifications Considered Computational science, biomedical informatics Techniques in molecular biology Senior Research Assistant Required Education Bachelor’s Degree. Seven (7) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement. Required Experience Three (3) years of relevant experience. Additional related work experience may be required depending on field or discipline.
