Sales Planning Manager

A leading global footwear company is seeking a Manager, Sales Planning to join its growing team in New York City. This newly created role will play a critical part in driving inventory strategy, sales planning, and financial performance across a portfolio of key wholesale accounts. Responsibilities Develop and manage sales and inventory plans for key wholesale accounts to achieve financial and inventory objectives. Forecast inventory needs based on sales trends, customer demand, and business goals. Analyze item-level sales performance and inventory to optimize replenishment strategies and maximize sell-through. Partner closely with Account Executives to develop account-specific sales strategies, promotional plans, and seasonal business forecasts. Translate high-level sales objectives into detailed financial and inventory plans by account. Conduct hindsight analysis to identify opportunities, risks, and future planning recommendations. Plan monthly buys to support category growth, inventory health, and financial targets. Analyze style and color performance to ensure key products remain properly stocked. Utilize data to identify assortment opportunities, support new product launches, and close sales gaps. Collaborate cross-functionally with Merchandising, Sales, Inventory Planning, and Operations to drive business performance. Mentor and eventually manage a Sales Planning Specialist as the team grows. Qualifications 5+ years of experience in Sales Planning, Demand Planning, Merchandise Planning, Inventory Planning, or a related retail planning function. Experience supporting wholesale, retail, or omnichannel businesses, preferably within fashion, footwear, apparel, or consumer goods. Strong analytical skills with advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency, including: Data analysis and reporting Experience working with planning or ERP systems; willingness to learn internal planning platforms. Ability to translate data into actionable business recommendations. Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills. Passion for footwear, fashion, or consumer brands. Previous people management experience is not required, but candidates should be interested in growing into a leadership role. Preferred Qualifications Experience with retail or wholesale sales planning. Familiarity with demand planning or inventory management systems.
