What You'll Do

• Provide urgent/emergency care for diverse patient populations, from newborns to geriatrics.
• Manage all ages and conditions, including respiratory distress, strokes, cardiac issues, trauma, and mental health concerns.
• Maintain patient safety and comfort with RN-to-patient ratios of 1:3-4.
• Perform critical nursing duties such as IV starts, medication administration, dosage calculations, and basic nursing care.
• Support documentation and charting using Meditech Expanse EMR system.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including hospitalists, ER educators, and support staff to ensure quality patient outcomes.
• Handle admitted patients within the ED and support rapid response to emergency situations.

What You Need

• Valid RN license in Louisiana or appropriate state licensure
• Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), NIHSS, and CPI or MOAB certifications
• At least 1 year of ED experience (2 years for first-time travelers)
• Ability to pass an EKG competency exam prior to arrival
• Strong critical thinking, IV skills, medication management, and self-motivation

• Experience with Meditech EMR and Alaris IV pumps
• Previous travel RN experience (not mandatory)

About the Assignment This assignment is based at a Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at a facility designated as Birth Ready and Stroke Ready in Shreveport. The ER team is family-oriented and provider-focused, fostering teamwork and support for travelers and staff alike. You will work in a clean, well-equipped environment with dedicated hospital resources, including RT and hospitalist support, ensuring seamless patient care.
