Operations Manager

Every night, 3,000+ musicians walk into our two spaces to record, rehearse, and build. They come back because the gear works, the rates don't bankrupt them, and the operation runs smoothly. You own the night operation that makes that possible. You manage the team, own the revenue, and keep the facility in shape, so artists keep coming back.

Most days, nobody notices your work. That's the point. When something breaks, you fix it so the next artist doesn't lose their session. When we need new gear, you source it so we stay current. When a process doesn't work, you change it. You own the occupancy rate. You own the equipment condition. You protect access. That's infrastructure.

What You Own

Team & Night Operations. You manage 2–4 people. You hire people who fit. You set expectations, give feedback, and handle underperformance. Your team is sharp and genuinely good at customer service. You create schedules, manage PTO, and conduct performance reviews.

Revenue & Occupancy. You own night occupancy. You know the bookings. You follow up on no-shows. You spot open slots and flag them to Michael. You understand your occupancy rate, and you own improving it. You coordinate evening events and rentals. You make sure people have good experiences so they come back and tell others.

Tech Shop. Gear audits, repairs, sourcing. You know what we have, where it is, and what condition it's in. When equipment breaks, you figure out what's wrong, coordinate the fix, source replacements. You keep records of what fails and why. You understand pricing and vendor relationships. You build the processes that keep our equipment reliable.

Facilities. Both locations. You manage vendors, coordinate maintenance, and track what needs fixing. You know the difference between something that can wait and something that needs to happen before the next session. You keep the spaces clean and professional because artists deserve that.

Reporting and Systems. You help Michael with financial closes and metrics. You maintain HubSpot, Planyo, and our operational tools. You write and update processes so staff know what to do and why.

You see what's broken and you fix it. You spot problems, and you solve them.

What You Need

Studio experience. You've worked in a studio, engineered, run one, or managed technical operations. You speak the language.

You troubleshoot gear. You understand signal flow and equipment. You can diagnose problems, or you know whom to call.

Team leadership. You've supervised people. You hire people who fit. You handle performance issues directly. You lead by example.

You've managed operational stuff. Inventory, asset tracking, financial processes. You get how systems work.

You've worked with vendors—sourced equipment, negotiated, compared options. You make decisions based on what's actually worth the money.

You read the room. Artists come in stressed, excited, tired. You handle it. You remember people. You make them feel like TRC cares.

You're honest. You keep good records. You tell Michael what's actually happening, not what he wants to hear.

You stay calm under pressure. Gear fails at 10:30 pm. Session starts in 10 minutes. You figure it out.

You believe artists should have affordable access to professional equipment.

The Details

Salary: $60,000–$70,000 depending on experience

Schedule: Full-time, 40–45 hours a week. Primarily night shifts (5 pm–midnight, Tuesday–Sunday)—some daytime hours as needed for vendor calls, procurement, and operational work.

Location: Both 960 Mass Ave and 55 Morrissey Blvd
