Job ID: 5791076 Application Deadline: Sep 30, 2026 11:59 PM (Eastern Standard Time) Posted: Jun 18, 2026 4:00 AM (UTC) Starting Date: Aug 12, 2026 Job Description The Early Childhood Educator is responsible for providing day‑to‑day high‑quality, age‑appropriate lesson plans for children in the respective age group they are assigned. Teachers maintain a high‑quality early learning environment and make adjustments based on observation, documentation, and assessment of developmental skills for each child in the classroom, providing a well‑rounded educational program. The Educator shall be immunized, have a current TB skin test, be in good physical health, have current certification in CPR and First Aid, and meet all requirements set forth by the Division of Child Development and Early Education and the Department of Public Instruction. Responsibilities Ensure program meets the center’s mission, philosophies, goals, policies, and standards. Demonstrate time management, initiative, and flexibility. Ensure an age‑appropriate learning environment and daily routine for children. Observe, document, and assess children’s learning. Ensure a safe environment for children. Strive for positive adult‑child interactions. Exhibit professional and supportive relationships with families and other adults. Strive for professional growth and development. Essential Responsibilities Details Ensure program meets the center’s mission, philosophies, goals, policies, and standards. Comply with all licensing regulations to maintain desired licensing level. Keep abreast of changes in licensing laws and regulations. Support and comply with all center policies and procedures. Maintain records, reports, and other required information. Be punctual, dependable, and maintain good attendance. Maintain professional and neat appearance; follow dress code. Demonstrate time management, initiative, and flexibility. Maintain flexibility with staff patterns, schedules, and center responsibilities. Use free time to prepare for activities and organize/clean room contents. Willingly take on extra duties or responsibilities when needed. Ensure an age‑appropriate learning environment and daily routine for children. Maintain a daily schedule and lesson plans for effective instruction. Promote child development and learning. Use content knowledge to build a meaningful curriculum. Submit developmentally appropriate lesson plans. Keep lesson plans up‑to‑date. Consider interests, style, pace, and special needs of individual children; use required curriculum resources. Enrich materials to support emerging interests of children. Make materials easily accessible; involve children in returning materials. Plan smooth transitions to limit waiting time. Observe, document, and assess children’s learning. Keep anecdotal notes of children’s progress. Prepare documentation for family‑teacher conferences. Use documentation data to inform instruction plans and support growth. Ensure a safe environment for children. Visually supervise children indoors and outdoors. Maintain required staff‑to‑child ratios. Keep charts and forms accurate, including daily reports, accident reports, medicine forms, feeding charts, and sign‑in/out sheets. Store medicines and harmful substances locked out of reach of children. Give routine health checks; monitor sick children. Follow proper cleaning and sanitation procedures. Release children only to approved adults; check identification as needed. Strive for positive adult‑child interactions. Treat children, parents, students, and colleagues with respect and kindness. Understand developmental levels of children. Show affection and support; form interactive relationships. Support and participate in learning experiences initiated by children. Support children’s independence; share control with children. Use appropriate voice tone and discipline techniques. Adopt a problem‑solving approach to social conflict. Help children make cause‑and‑effect connections during conflict resolution. Ensure behavior expectations match respectful development. Exhibit professional and supportive relationships with families and other adults. Maintain confidentiality of each child and family at all times. Build family and community relationships. Use developmentally effective approaches to connect with children and families. Develop and maintain open lines of communication with parents; acknowledge parent needs. Ensure parents are familiar with all staff and volunteers. Schedule, prepare, and participate in annual parent‑teacher conferences. Encourage and develop team attitude; support other team members. Share responsibility for team functions; assume equal share of responsibility. Effectively direct classroom assistants and substitutes when needed. Respect and value individual differences. Exhibit good judgment; handle situations professionally. Handle complaints professionally. Strive for professional growth and development. Maintain current personnel file. Seek personal improvement through continuing college‑level coursework. Attend and participate in staff meetings and PLC sessions. Minimum Training and Experience Required: Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development, or related discipline from a regionally accredited institution with 2 years of experience. Preferred: Experience working with young children in a licensed child care setting, including supervision of Instructional Assistants or other support staff; current enrollment in courses toward a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development; willingness to progress at least 6 semester hours annually. Minimum Qualifications or Standards Required Physical requirements consistent with Light Work, including use of classroom tools and modest lifting. Ability to compare, judge, and analyze data, people, or objects. Interpersonal communication skills: speaking, signaling, and following instructions. Language ability for reading and preparing correspondence, reports, and instructional materials. Intelligence: applying logical or scientific thinking, interpreting instructions, and solving abstract and concrete problems. Verbal aptitude: recording, delivering, and explaining information in technical or professional contexts. Numerical aptitude: mathematical proficiency, including percentages and basic statistics. Form/spatial aptitude: inspecting items for proper dimensions. Motor coordination: coordinating hands and eyes with office equipment. Manual dexterity: handling varied office tools and hand tools with minimal coordination requirements. Color discrimination: distinguishing colors and shades. Interpersonal temperament: dealing with people under stress and in emergency situations. Physical communication: talking and hearing, including phone use.
