Beckhoff Automation is seeking a driven, technically fluent Sales Engineer to lead growth in the San Francisco Bay Area, a key territory with a solid customer base and untapped potential. In this role, you will blend deep technical insight with consultative sales skills to deliver innovative automation solutions and forge lasting technology partnerships with customers.

You will own your territory, playing a critical role in executing territory strategy, developing new opportunities, and advancing Beckhoff’s vision of open automation. This is a high-impact position for a proactive, relationship-oriented professional excited to represent one of the most advanced technology platforms in the industry.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Customer Development

• Execute territory strategy by targeting new accounts and expanding key customer relationships
• Translate customer challenges into compelling Beckhoff automation solutions
• Expand existing accounts and secure new opportunities across OEMs, integrators, and end users
• Maintain a strong pipeline, drive system opportunities to close, and exceed growth targets

Territory Ownership & Strategic Planning

• Develop a strategic plan aligned with regional and national sales goals
• Analyze CRM and market data to uncover new opportunities
• Represent Beckhoff at customer meetings, regional events, and industry trade shows

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with local Application Engineers and Sales Coordinators to ensure customer success
• Leverage Beckhoff’s product and industry experts to strengthen solution delivery
• Share customer feedback and market insight to inform product development and strategy

Operational Excellence

• Maintain pipeline accuracy and forecasting discipline in CRM
• Support customer technical scoping, including BOM generation and solution proposals
• Ensure timely, professional follow-up through internal coordination

What We’re Looking For – Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business with technical experience
• 5+ years in a sales or customer-facing technical role preferred
• Strong communicator with a customer-first, consultative approach
• Proven success in technical sales, ideally in industrial automation
• Ability to think strategically and execute with urgency
• Self-starter who thrives in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment

• Must reside within the assigned territory

Work Location

This is a fully remote position. Team members can work from anywhere in the San Francisco Bay Area. The Beckhoff San Jose office is available as a resource for hosting customer trainings, events, and team collaboration as needed. This approach ensures strong customer engagement and effective teamwork, balanced with work-life flexibility.

Travel

This position requires varying travel ranging from 15-20% which may include day trips, overnight stays, and occasional extended travel depending on business needs. Travel may be local, regional, or national. All travel-related expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with company policy. Candidates must be able to meet the travel requirements of the role, and reasonable accommodations will be provided as needed in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
