Payroll Specialist

Washington, DC Area | Hybrid| Part-Time | Temporary Assignment Our client, a well-established organization in the Washington, DC area, is seeking a Part-Time Payroll Specialist to provide temporary support for payroll processing and related administrative functions. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced payroll professional who enjoys working independently, maintains a high level of accuracy, and can quickly step into an existing process. The ideal candidate will have experience managing payroll activities, ensuring compliance with payroll regulations, and supporting employees with payroll-related inquiries. Key Responsibilities Process biweekly and/or semi-monthly payroll accurately and on schedule Review timesheets, payroll changes, deductions, and employee information for accuracy Maintain payroll records and employee payroll files Assist with benefit deductions, garnishments, and payroll adjustments Respond to employee payroll questions and resolve discrepancies Support new hire and termination payroll processing Generate payroll reports and assist with audits as needed Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations Partner with HR and Finance teams to maintain accurate employee data Assist with payroll-related projects and process improvements Qualifications 3+ years of payroll processing experience Experience working with payroll systems such as Paycom, ADP, Paylocity, UKG, or similar platforms Strong understanding of payroll regulations, tax withholdings, and payroll best practices Excellent attention to detail and accuracy Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively What You'll Bring A detail-oriented and analytical mindset Strong customer service and communication skills The ability to identify and resolve payroll discrepancies efficiently A proactive approach and commitment to accuracy Equal Opportunity Employer/Veterans/Disabled The Company will consider qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and/or security clearance requirements, including, as applicable: The California Fair Chance Act Los Angeles City Fair Chance Ordinance Los Angeles County Fair Chance Ordinance for Employers San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance Benefit offerings include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, additional voluntary benefits, EAP program, commuter benefits, and 401K plan.
