Assistant Cook | Full-Time Mid-Shift

Join a dedicated healthcare food service team in the heart of the Midwest region, where your culinary skills support the well‑being of patients and staff. As an Assistant Cook, you will play a vital role in preparing nutritious meals by reviewing menus and production sheets to determine food quantities. You will prepare hot and cold dishes following standardized recipes and HACCP safety guidelines to ensure quality and safety. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Communicate promptly with supervisors regarding equipment issues, food shortages, or preparation errors to ensure timely resolution. Review menus and production sheets to organize and produce food that meets serving deadlines while adhering to safety standards. Serve and portion food on the tray line and maintain cafeteria food supplies during meal times. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of food production areas, tray lines, and equipment. Education High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered. Experience At least two years of experience in quantity food preparation is required. Requirements Mental ability to follow written and verbal instructions and perform basic math tasks. Physical stamina for long periods of standing and walking. Ability to read, write, and understand policies and procedures. Capability to lift up to 50 pounds during shifts. Working Conditions Exposure to heat, noise, steam, and high temperatures from kitchen equipment such as grills and fryers. Potential contact with water, chemicals, glass breakage, wet floors, and sharp knives.
