About the Role
The Company is seeking a Vice President and General Counsel to serve as its chief legal officer, with a focus on legal, corporate governance, regulatory, and compliance issues. The successful candidate will be a trusted legal and business advisor to the executive director, senior leadership team, and the Board of Trustees. This role requires the development and execution of a comprehensive legal and compliance framework, ensuring alignment with the organization's strategic mission. Key responsibilities include serving as principal legal counsel, managing risk and compliance functions, overseeing enterprise risk management, and ensuring legal and regulatory compliance. The Vice President and General Counsel will also be involved in legal reviews of contracts, managing outside legal counsel, and advising on a range of legal and corporate governance matters. Applicants must be seasoned legal professionals with over 20 years of experience, possessing a Juris Doctor degree and the highest standards of ethics and integrity. The role demands outstanding judgment, critical thinking, and the ability to anticipate and manage various risks. The ideal candidate will have a strategic mindset, be an excellent communicator, and have a collaborative, team-oriented approach. Knowledge of the accounting profession, financial regulatory environment, and federal securities laws is preferred. The Vice President and General Counsel will also be responsible for overseeing a team that includes an Associate General Counsel, a Legal and Compliance Assistant, and a Director of Internal Controls.
