IP Patent Prosecution Specialist

Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, one of the world’s leading global law firms with offices in strategic hubs of commerce, law, and government across North America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, is seeking to hire an IP Patent Prosecution Specialist for our Intellectual Property Patent Support Unit. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Patent Support Services, the IP Patent Prosecution Specialist will be responsible for supporting activities related to patent prosecution and the preparation and filing of documents related to international and foreign national patent applications.

This position will reside in our Silicon Valley (Palo Alto), San Francisco, Seattle, Orange County, Los Angeles or Century City office with a hybrid in-office/remote working schedule. Flexibility with overtime is required.
Key responsibilities include:
Prepares and files documents with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office such as, New Patent Applications, IDS, Preliminary Amendments, and formalities
Prepares client reporting letters and correspondence regarding formalities, Official Actions, Notices of Allowance, and Letters Patent.
Prepares and files documents related to international and foreign national patent applications and files documents with the World Intellectual Property Office International Bureau and foreign national patent offices in accordance with set guidelines and procedures.
Analyzes PTO-issued documents for accuracy (such as filing receipts, assignment documents, certificates of correction, etc.).
Prepares patent prosecution documents, including transcribing instructions (written and/or verbal), producing patent applications, correspondence, reports, memoranda, proofreading and redlining, photocopying, assembling and distributing.
Experience and qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and 3 - 5 years of relevant patent prosecution experience. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
Strong organizational skills to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and assignments.
Ability to work well under pressure and the ability to participate in a team environment.
Excellent written and oral communication skills and exceptional attention to detail.
Proficiency in and knowledge of the following software: CPI Patent, MS-Office (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel), WorkSite, Adobe Acrobat, Legal MacPac, Outlook, Office Communicator, iManage.

For positions in Century City, CA, Los Angeles, CA, and Orange County, CA the salary range for this position is: $78,500.00 - $125,600.00.
For positions in Seattle, WA, salary range for this position is: $75,400 - $120,550.
For positions in San Francisco, CA, and Silicon Valley, CA, the salary range for this position is: $81,640.00 - $130,585.00.
The base salary wage range for this position will be determined during the interview process and will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to prior experience, relevant expertise, current business needs, and market factors. The foregoing salary range applies only to the specific available position advertised herein. The total compensation package for this position will also include eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus. Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable plans and policies then in effect, eligible employees may enroll in: a 401(k) plan, as well as participate in Company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, life, disability, accidental death and dismemberment, business travel accident insurance plans, and health savings and flexible spending accounts for the employee and the employee’s eligible dependents. Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable plans and policies then in effect, eligible employees may utilize the Employee Assistance Program, Work/Life Services, Health Advocate, Bright Horizons Back-Up Child Care, and WageWorks Commuter Benefits for the employee and the employee’s eligible dependents. Employees will also receive: 9 paid holidays per calendar year, 2 personal days per year, and up to 20 days of vacation per year. In accordance with state applicable law, eligible employees will earn 1 paid sick leave hour for 30 hours worked. Eligible employees may also take up to five days off for bereavement leave, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave per year and up to 10 weeks of paid pregnancy disability leave per pregnancy. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the firm reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, firm or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
