Accounting Associate

Role : Accounting Associate Location: Milwaukee, WI 53223 Schedule: Hybrid – Tuesday through Thursday onsite; Monday and Friday remote Working Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM CT Duration: 12 months Contract Pay Range : $18 - $20 /hr Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Associate to support settlement reconciliations, cash management, payment processing, general ledger entries, and financial data analysis. The ideal candidate has a basic accounting background, strong Excel skills, and experience with account reconciliation or banking transaction processing. Key Responsibilities Prepare balancing schedules and reconcile cash and balance sheet accounts. Prepare and record general ledger journal entries using settlement and banking systems. Monitor and process payments and payment files according to established procedures. Investigate discrepancies, research variances, and document findings. Resolve reconciliation differences, funds movement errors, and transaction processing inquiries. Work with internal teams, external clients, and service providers to resolve settlement issues. Maintain accurate financial records while following compliance and confidentiality requirements. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience. Knowledge of basic accounting principles, account reconciliation, and balancing processes. Understanding of cash management and financial analysis. Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow compliance procedures. Preferred Skills Experience with banking or transaction processing, including ACH, wire transfers, debit cards, or credit cards. Familiarity with general ledger systems and accounting software such as Oracle. Experience with settlement systems, payment processing, or cash and balance sheet reconciliations.
