Behavioral Health Clinician

The Behavioral Health Clinician provides culturally relevant outpatient behavioral health treatment to individuals experiencing behavioral, emotional, and mental disorders. The role includes conducting individual, group, family, and marital therapy, performing bio-psychosocial assessments, diagnostic evaluations, care coordination, and crisis intervention. The clinician collaborates as an active member of a multidisciplinary treatment team and maintains timely and accurate patient records. Clinical supervision is provided for clinicians not yet licensed. The position involves after-hours crisis intervention on a rotating basis across multiple clinic locations. Responsibilities:

• Conduct culturally relevant screening, assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and evidence-based therapy (individual, group, family).
• Utilize Trauma Informed Care principles in all patient, employee, and community interactions.
• Integrate mental health and substance use disorder interventions based on individualized assessments.
• Develop and review individualized treatment plans tailored to patient needs.
• Provide care coordination, advocacy, motivational interviewing, education, and skill development.
• Maximize patient access to care and promote coping strategies, self-care, and symptom management.
• Collaborate with clinical and paraprofessional team members to achieve treatment goals.
• Provide crisis intervention services during clinic hours and share rotating after-hours crisis coverage in rural clinics.
• Maintain complete, timely, and accurate documentation in the electronic health record system.
• Adhere to patient confidentiality and information sharing policies in compliance with HIPAA and organizational procedures.
• Coordinate care with internal health systems and community social agencies for optimal patient referrals.
• Participate professionally in staff meetings, training, and multidisciplinary team meetings.
• Meet clinical productivity and documentation standards consistently.
• Respond promptly and professionally to coding, audit requests, and provider enrollment requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or related discipline from an accredited institution.
• Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) preferred; clinical supervision provided for unlicensed clinicians.
• Valid State of Alaska Driver's License or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 3 months of hire.
• Experience with behavioral health assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and referral for patients of all ages.
• Knowledge of federal and state mandatory reporting, HIPAA, CARF, The Joint Commission, HRSA, Medicaid, and federal regulations.
• Ability to assess suicide/self-harm risk and develop safety plans.
• Strong documentation skills in compliance with professional and regulatory standards.

• Alaska State Chemical Dependency Counselor I or MAC certificate or equivalent.
• Experience with evidence-based individual, group, and family therapy methods for emotional, behavioral, and mental health issues.
• Experience working in rural or multi-site clinic settings.
• Demonstrated skills in motivational interviewing and patient advocacy.

• Provision of after-hours crisis intervention on a shared rotating basis in rural clinic locations (Haines, Klawock, Petersburg, Wrangell).
• Clinical supervision provided for clinicians not yet licensed to meet licensure requirements.
• Adherence to strict confidentiality and regulatory compliance standards.
• Must maintain current licensure for the duration of employment once obtained.

• Work primarily during normal clinic hours with shared rotating after-hours crisis coverage in designated rural clinics.
• Participation in multidisciplinary team meetings and trainings as scheduled.
• Productivity expectations require consistent and timely completion of clinical duties and documentation.
