About the Opportunity

We are partnering with an established aerospace and defense manufacturer with over 60 years of industry experience and a strong pipeline of long-term contracts. The company specializes in precision machining, stamping, fabrication, and assembly of high-quality components.

We are seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Lead Machinist to oversee daily operations within the CNC Lathe department. This role is ideal for a hands-on machining professional with strong technical expertise, leadership experience, and a commitment to quality, safety, and production efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and run 2-axis and multi-axis CNC lathes with sub-spindles.

• Lead, mentor, and oversee a production team of 1–3 employees across two shifts.

• Coordinate daily production schedules and ensure parts are completed accurately, efficiently, and on time.

• Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and technical specifications.

• Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments and address quality discrepancies.

• Assist with tooling, fixturing, machine setups, troubleshooting, and process improvements.

• Program CNC lathes using Mastercam and make adjustments as needed.

• Create and maintain accurate setup sheets, labor tickets, timecards, work orders, and other production documentation.

• Coordinate closely with programming, tooling, quality, scheduling, and management to support department goals.

• Monitor attendance, timekeeping, and paperwork to ensure accurate and timely submission.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while ensuring proper equipment care.

• Train and mentor team members to support skill development and consistent production quality.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of machine shop leadership experience.

• 5+ years of CNC lathe machining experience.

• Strong experience setting up and operating CNC lathes, including multi-axis machines with sub-spindles.

• CNC lathe programming experience using Mastercam.

• Proficiency in blueprint reading, inspection, troubleshooting, and machining process improvements.

• Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate production activities across shifts.

• Excellent attention to detail, critical thinking, organization, and time management.

• Reliable attendance, punctuality, accountability, and a positive, team-oriented attitude.

• Commitment to workplace safety, quality standards, and leading by example.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills; fluency in English is required.

• High school diploma or GED.

• Ability to stand or sit for extended periods in a manufacturing environment.

• Must be eligible to access export-controlled information in accordance with applicable U.S. export control regulations, including ITAR/EAR.

Compensation and Benefits

• Pay: $38.00–$48.00+ per hour, depending on experience.

• Sign on Bonus

• Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 5:00 AM–3:30 PM, with optional overtime.

• Compensation is reviewed regularly based on merit and performance.
