Senior Transportation Engineer Join our dynamic team as a Senior Transportation Engineer in Tampa, Florida, supporting our other offices, including Orlando, with an opportunity for future growth within the organization. You will play a crucial role in enhancing our communities through sustainable and integrated project delivery. As a Senior Transportation Engineer, you will contribute to highway design, drainage design, traffic management plans, cost estimating, right-of-way, and layout plans. Our clients range from municipalities to state agencies and private partners, all invested in creating better places for people to live, work, recreate, and learn. Location Tampa, FL, U.S. Responsibilities Serve as Project Manager/Senior Engineer for state and local clients. Coordinate roadway design with drainage, utilities, structures, traffic, and environmental disciplines to ensure integrated project delivery. Execute scope associated with project delivery for transportation design projects for all stages from Concept Development to Final Design and Construction Administration phase. Prepare and review models, drawings, and specifications documenting the projects under design. Manage work and develop and mentor junior staff, providing them with technical and professional guidance. Collaborate with other VHB professionals to deliver projects with an integrated thinking approach. Monitor project performance. Attend meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to establish their needs and discuss transportation design/permitting issues. Assist with strategy for expansion of transportation design services in Florida's Gulf Coast. Be part of developing new project opportunities, preparing/managing proposal submissions, and tracking of key client work programs. Participate in professional organizations that promote relationships with clients and teaming partners. Skills and Attributes Self-motivated, attention to detail and ability to multitask. Ability to think critically. Exhibits strong leadership skills. Strong computer skills (MS Office). Strong and collaborative work ethic and ability to work well in a team environment. Substantial technical and project management experience. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Knowledge of roadway geometric design principles, including horizontal/vertical alignment, superelevation, and corridor development. Thorough knowledge with FDOT design standards, FDM, and CADD production requirements. Advanced knowledge of local and state regulations governing transportation design. Experience with OpenRoads Designer (ORD) for roadway design, modeling, and production. AutoCAD or MicroStation experience a plus. Qualifications B.S. in Civil Engineering, transportation planning or similar discipline. 11+ years of professional transportation engineering experience, with at least 8 years of experience working in the Florida market, required. Current FL Professional Engineer (PE) license required. Proven success in the transportation agencies and/or state & local government market sectors. Benefits Building what's next, together.
