Tutor, Mentor & High School Academic Enrichment Instructor - Part-Time

Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and skilled educator to support high school students (grades 11–12)in achieving academic success, preparing for college, and developing leadership and career-readiness skills. This role blends instruction, tutoring, mentorship, and program engagement in a dynamic learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver engaging instruction in reading, writing, and mathematics enrichment aligned with upper high school standards
Provide ACT test preparation and targeted academic support
Offer individualized and small-group tutoring aligned with 11th–12th grade coursework
Differentiate instruction to support diverse learning needs and academic levels
Provide social-emotional support, including navigating family dynamics, personal challenges, and barriers to academic success
Track and monitor student progress; adjust teaching strategies accordingly

Student Development

Mentor students in:
- Leadership and communication skills
- Time management and organization
- Workplace readiness and professional behavior
Encourage perseverance, accountability, and goal setting
Serve as a positive role model for college-bound juniors and seniors

Program Participation

Support after-school and evening programming during the school year
Participate in summer learning sessions , field trips, and community activities
Engage in college and career exposure opportunities (campus visits, business tours, networking events)
Assist with special events, workshops, and enrichment activities

Schedule

Summer (June–August): Monday–Thursday, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
School Year: Monday–Thursday, 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM; Fridays Flexible
Occasional Saturdays: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Flexibility required based on program needs

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field
Experience teaching or tutoring 11th–12th grade students
Experience teaching Title 1 schools, underserved communities, or students facing educational barriers.
Strong background in math, reading, writing, or ACT preparation
Ability to engage and differentiate instruction for diverse learners
Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills
