Geriatric Physical Therapist - Full-Time Position

Work Environment

You will work onsite at our state-of-the-art rehabilitation facility in Bayonne, a vibrant community known for its supportive environment and close proximity to various resources. Your typical work schedule will be Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM, providing a structured yet flexible setting where you can thrive and contribute to our patients' needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients' physical capabilities and devise individualized treatment plans that address specific goals and needs.
• Deliver skilled therapy interventions, including but not limited to therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques, and modalities designed for elderly patients.
• Regularly monitor and document the patients' progress throughout the course of treatment, making adjustments to the care plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
• Engage in collaborative care by working with other healthcare professionals—such as doctors, occupational therapists, and speech therapists—to facilitate a holistic approach to patient health.
• Educate patients and their families on effective therapeutic techniques and home exercise regimens, aimed at preventing injuries and promoting independence.
• Design and implement fall prevention strategies tailored to the needs of residents within assisted living communities.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in physical therapy practices, participating in continuing education opportunities to enhance your clinical skills.
• Uphold ethical and professional standards, maintaining patient confidentiality and a commitment to providing high-quality care.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Our primary focus is on the geriatric population, many of whom face unique challenges such as mobility issues, chronic pain, and rehabilitation needs following surgeries or falls. You will work closely with these clients, utilizing your expertise to support their independence and comfort while providing a dignified and respectful approach to therapy.

Qualifications

• A graduate degree from an accredited institution, specifically a Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate in Physical Therapy.
• Current and active state licensure to practice as a Physical Therapist in New Jersey.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, essential for effective interaction with patients, families, and a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
• Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMRs) systems for documentation and patient management.
• Familiarity with evidence-based practices relevant to geriatric therapy.
• A strong desire to enhance the quality of life for elderly patients and promote their independence.
• Capability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team dynamic.

Preferred Experience

• Previous experience in geriatric physical therapy is beneficial, but new graduates passionate about this field are encouraged to apply.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary ranging from $100,000 to $120,000 annually, reflecting the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate.
