Accounting Specialist II

Employee Benefits Corporation is hiring an Accounting Specialist II. The Accounting Specialist II is responsible for reviewing, reconciling, and posting employer benefit plan payments, including plan administration fees, employer plan funding, and participant plan repayments. The role also involves reconciling benefit plan accounts, preparing plan refunds, and responding to internal customer service inquiries and requests. Location: Work from the Middleton, WI office – hybrid; must appear in the office at least one day per week. Responsibilities Review, code, reconcile, and post client funding and fee payments in the administration system in a timely and accurate manner. Research and resolve duplicate payments and other discrepancies using system tools and exception reports to identify root causes and trends, contacting clients when appropriate. Reconcile client benefit plan accounts and prepare refund requests for overpayments, repayments, and medical excess funding with high attention to detail. Research and follow up with clients on outstanding funding invoices. Update and audit client bank account information. Review payroll variance files and system‑generated exception reports, sending follow‑up tasks as needed. Qualifications Associate’s degree in Accounting, Business, or related field; may be substituted with two years of relevant experience. Minimum two years of accounting experience in a professional office environment. Knowledge of basic accounting and internal control principles. Strong verbal and written communication skills with excellent business acumen. Self‑motivated, structured, and able to multitask in a fast‑paced environment. Strong critical thinking, attention to detail, and analytical skills. Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel (formulas, data validation, analytical review of reports). Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word and Outlook. Comfortable with evolving technology, including automated and AI‑enabled systems, emphasizing accuracy, validation, and professional judgment. Reliable transportation and willingness to work in office at least one day per week.
