Description

Class Summary: This position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of assigned areas. Responsibilities may include cleaning assigned areas; setting up for events; and/or training new staff.

Typical Class Essential Duties: (These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.) 1. Cleans assigned areas, including: waxing floors; vacuuming floors; washing windows; emptying trash; and cleaning restrooms. 2. Sets up chairs, tables, and stages for events. 3. Trains and/or monitors staff to ensure proper completion of work. 4. Orders equipment and supplies. 5. Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance, including attendance at required meetings. This job description is intended to represent only the key areas of responsibilities; specific position assignments will vary depending on the business needs of the department.

Training and Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.); related experience preferred; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

Qualifications

Licensing Requirements: • Valid State of Michigan Driver's License

Knowledge: • Applicable tools and equipment; • Basic cleaning techniques; • Applicable cleaning chemicals; • Safe work practices; • Methods of training staff; • Supply and equipment ordering. Skills: • Cleaning work areas; • Setting up for events; • Training staff; • Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, and others sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction. Physical Requirements: Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Incumbents may be subjected to mechanical parts, vibration, dusts, gases, and chemicals.
