Accountant
Mid America Capital
The Accountant is responsible for providing accounting support to Mid America Capital, most notably responsible for maintaining financial records, running reports, and recording a wide range of transactions. What will this role be doing? Verifying and posting details about business transactions, such as funds received and disbursed, and total accounts to ledgers and databases Prepares asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information Reviewing and balancing internal accounts, analyze variances, prepare reports, and monitor depreciable assets using financial software Summarizes current financial status by collecting information; preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports Guides accounting clerical staff by coordinating activities and answering questions Preparing and interpreting financial metrics and provide reports to managers on a daily/weekly/monthly basis Participating in month-end close activities, including preparation of journal entries, reconciliation of accounts. Researching, tracking and resolving accounting problems Assisting accounting team members, including training And other responsibilities as assigned What we're looking for... Be a problem-solver – you make Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys look like amateurs! Someone who has a natural proficiency with math – you don't always need an abacus to get your answers. Be knowledgeable of basic financial, tax and accounting principles – you're not a guru, but you know the difference between balance sheets, cash flow statement and income statement. Someone who is well-organized, detail-oriented and has great follow-up skills – you're the equivalent to Leslie Knope on Parks & Rec. Be familiar with office productivity applications (i.e., MS Office) and have a willingness for learning new systems – you like land, but you're up for exploring uncharted waters. What the ideal person will have up their sleeve...
