Compensation: $74,198 - $75,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications

Position Summary

Reporting to the Executive Director, Campus Life, the Director of Student Housing provides leadership and operational oversight for the campus residential experience. This role directs all housing and residence life functions for the 240-bed North campus student housing apartments and the South Campus Woodlands on Green Bay apartment complex for 360. The Director balances student development and crisis intervention with rigorous business administration and inter-departmental collaboration.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Business Administration and Housing Operations

1. Direct all aspects of housing occupancy management, including marketing, recruitment support, housing applications, contract administration, room assignments, waitlist management, and occupancy forecasting.
2. Coordinate housing billing, charges, refunds, collections, and account reconciliation in partnership with the University's Business Office.
3. Develop, manage, and monitor annual housing operating budgets, including revenue projections, expenditure oversight, capital improvement planning, and financial reporting.
4. Serve as the primary liaison with Facilities, , Campus Safety, Student Financial Services, Information Technology, Admissions, to ensure effective housing operations and student support.
5. Oversee housing policies, procedures, contracts, and resident communications to ensure compliance with institutional policies and applicable regulations.
6. Manage housing database systems, occupancy records, reporting functions, and administrative processes to ensure operational efficiency and data integrity.
7. Coordinate housing move-in, move-out, re-contracting, and room transfers.
8. Monitor housing facilities and furnishings, identify maintenance and capital improvement needs, and collaborate with Facilities staff to maintain safe, clean, and welcoming residential environments.
9. Develop and implement emergency preparedness, risk management, and business continuity procedures for residential facilities.
10. Assess resident satisfaction, community needs, occupancy trends, and program effectiveness through surveys, focus groups, benchmarking, and data analysis, using findings to improve services and operations.
11. Prepare annual reports and strategic recommendations related to housing occupancy, finances, student satisfaction, facility needs, and program outcomes.

Resident Life and Student Support

1. Recruit, select, train, supervise, and Coordinator of Student Life and Community Managers as well as other student positions.
2. Develop, implement, and assess a residential curriculum and community-building initiatives designed to support student engagement, academic success, wellness, and belonging within a graduate student population.
3. Foster an inclusive and respectful residential environment that supports students from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and life experiences.
4. Serve as the primary administrator for resident conduct issues within housing, including conflict mediation, behavioral intervention, policy enforcement, documentation, and follow-up.
5. Respond to and coordinate follow-up for student crises, emergencies, and critical incidents occurring within the residential community, partnering with appropriate campus resources.
6. Provide support, referral, and case management coordination for residents experiencing personal, academic, behavioral, or wellness-related concerns.
7. Maintain an effective on-call and emergency response structure for residential facilities which typically entails after-hours phone calls.
8. Coordinate educational programming related to community standards, health and wellness, safety, academic success, and student development.
9. Support the transition and integration of new residential students through orientation, move-in initiatives, and ongoing community engagement efforts.

Leadership, Collaboration, and Strategic Planning

1. Serve as a member of the Division of Success and Wellness leadership team and contribute to divisional planning, assessment, strategic initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
2. Collaborate with colleagues across Student Housing, Academic Support, Student Life, Student Health and Wellness, Admissions, and other departments to provide coordinated support for student success.
3. Participate in the planning and implementation of major institutional events, including orientation, student recognition programs, awards ceremonies, commencement, and other university-wide initiatives.
4. Support student engagement efforts through collaboration with Student Life staff, including advising student organizations and assisting with programs and events as assigned.
5. Represent Student Housing on university committees, task forces, and working groups as assigned.
6. Maintain knowledge of current best practices, trends, and legal issues related to student housing, student affairs, risk management, and graduate student development.
7. Perform other duties as assigned in support of the mission and goals of the Division of Success and Wellness and the University.

Required Education & Experience

• Master’s Degree in Student Personnel or related field.
• Resident life experience.
• Experience in the supervision of staff and general knowledge of housing administration and business concepts.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with StarRez Housing Management System

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Strong foundation in residential like, student development theory, higher education administrative support structures and higher education law.

• Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills with the proven ability to lead in a university environment.
