About the Role

The Company is in search of a President and Chief Executive Officer to lead its nationally respected foundation. The successful candidate will be a strategic and mission-driven leader, responsible for providing vision, direction, and oversight of all foundation functions. This role is pivotal in advancing the company's academic and medical enterprises, with a focus on maximizing charitable support for the institution, its faculty, students, and patients. The President and CEO will lead a large team of professionals, and work closely with the Board of Directors, University President, Provost, and other senior leaders to ensure strong alignment between institutional priorities and philanthropic strategy. Applicants for the President and CEO position should have a significant background in senior-level leadership, particularly in fundraising or related fields, within mission-driven sectors such as higher education, healthcare, or nonprofit organizations. The role requires a leader with strong financial and operational acumen, the ability to lead through complexity and growth, and a proven track record of building and sustaining trusted relationships. While deep expertise in fundraising is important, the ideal candidate will also possess the breadth, judgment, and leadership presence to guide the organization as a whole. An advanced degree is preferred, and experience working with independent governing boards is a plus. The President and CEO will be expected to influence the future of the company and the State of West Virginia by leading the foundation as a trusted partner, connector, and steward of philanthropic resources.
