Description:
The Manager Accounting is responsible for managing the financial accounting functions and supervising the day-to-day activities of the financial accounting staff.
This role oversees cash management, accounts payable, fixed assets, general ledger, and budget functions.
Ensures adherence to generally accepted accounting principles and accurate reporting of accounting data and its analysis.
Manages daily accounting operations, ensuring accurate and timely preparation of journal entries, check requests, bank reconciliations, and balance sheet account reconciliations.
Reviews the financial statements for accuracy, completeness, and reasonableness monthly for several entities.
Evaluates financial statements for appropriateness and makes recommendations for improvements or changes.
Participates in the budget process for areas of concentration.
Coordinates interfaces into the general ledger, ensuring proper posting and reporting of activity.
Participates in preparation and coordination of yearly audits, preparing required workpapers and assisting audit staff as needed.
Prepares tax returns or information required for assigned entities.
Selects, trains, and evaluates employees for assigned responsibilities and organizes daily workflow for direct reports.
Maintains and evaluates accounting systems and procedures while continuously looking for improvements.
Provides support to financial leadership as needed.
Works with staff and managers from other departments to answer inquiries and provide financial information.
Assists with special projects and requests for financial, budget, and statistical information.
Coordinates the annual physical inventory of fixed assets and assists in the capital budget preparation and accounting for associated projects.
Validates month-end and year-end financial data.
Responsible for decision-making and making independent judgments from diverse alternatives.
