Financial Services Litigation Associate

Location: Los Angeles, CA or San Francisco, CA
Work Arrangement: Hybrid
Experience: 4th–6th Year Associate
Compensation: $305,000–$390,000/year + Excellent Benefits

Direct Counsel represents a leading Am Law 100 firm seeking a talented 4th–6th Year Associate with experience in financial services litigation , particularly representing broker-dealers and registered representatives in FINRA arbitrations, securities sales practices matters, and related proceedings .

This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative, cross-office team handling sophisticated matters and working directly with clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze complex legal issues, conduct research, and draft sophisticated briefs and motions.
• Handle FINRA arbitrations and securities-related litigation.
• Prepare for and participate in motion arguments.
• Prepare deposition outlines and exhibits; taking or defending depositions is a plus.
• Assist with trial preparation, including direct and cross-examination outlines and exhibits.
• Manage written discovery, document review and production, and expert coordination.
• Work strategically and analytically while maintaining strong client relationships.
• Collaborate with attorneys across offices on complex financial services matters.

Qualifications

• 4–6 years of litigation experience , with experience in financial services litigation preferred.
• Demonstrated FINRA arbitration experience .
• Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with motion practice, depositions, discovery, and trial preparation.
• Strong case management and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively with clients and within a collaborative, cross-office team.
• Solid academic record.
• Active California Bar membership and good standing required.
• Admission to the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Eastern, Central, and Southern Districts of California preferred but not required.
• Law Review/Journal or Moot Court experience preferred but not required.
