Financial Services Litigation Associate
Location: Los Angeles, CA or San Francisco, CA
Work Arrangement: Hybrid
Experience: 4th–6th Year Associate
Compensation: $305,000–$390,000/year + Excellent Benefits
Direct Counsel represents a leading Am Law 100 firm seeking a talented 4th–6th Year Associate with experience in financial services litigation , particularly representing broker-dealers and registered representatives in FINRA arbitrations, securities sales practices matters, and related proceedings .
This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative, cross-office team handling sophisticated matters and working directly with clients.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze complex legal issues, conduct research, and draft sophisticated briefs and motions.
- Handle FINRA arbitrations and securities-related litigation.
- Prepare for and participate in motion arguments.
- Prepare deposition outlines and exhibits; taking or defending depositions is a plus.
- Assist with trial preparation, including direct and cross-examination outlines and exhibits.
- Manage written discovery, document review and production, and expert coordination.
- Work strategically and analytically while maintaining strong client relationships.
- Collaborate with attorneys across offices on complex financial services matters.
- 4–6 years of litigation experience , with experience in financial services litigation preferred.
- Demonstrated FINRA arbitration experience .
- Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with motion practice, depositions, discovery, and trial preparation.
- Strong case management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively with clients and within a collaborative, cross-office team.
- Solid academic record.
- Active California Bar membership and good standing required.
- Admission to the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Eastern, Central, and Southern Districts of California preferred but not required.
- Law Review/Journal or Moot Court experience preferred but not required.
- $305,000–$390,000 annual salary , depending on experience, location, and other job-related factors.
