Bioinformatics Research Assistant - Psychiatry

Position Summary The Cruchaga Lab in the Department of Psychiatry is seeking a Bioinformatics Research Assistant to participate in developing and conducting research projects, participate in experiment design, document experimental results, and perform computational data analysis. Scheduled Hours 40 hours per week. Job Description Primary Duties & Responsibilities Assist research studies with existing algorithms and software for analyzing omics-based datasets, including high-throughput, massively parallel genomic, proteomic, and clinical data. Manage data sets and develop solutions for storage, investigation, and dissemination of large data sets. Collaborate with the research team to develop new algorithms to support studies. Participate in hypothesis development, experimental design, and conduct research experiments. Comply with established safety procedures and maintain required documentation on laboratory conditions. Assist with the reporting, evaluation, and discussion of research results. Conduct research on specified topics and complete other assigned duties. Working Conditions Laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. Physically able to wear protective equipment and provide standard care to research animals. Normal office environment for data analysis tasks. Typical work involves sitting at a desk or table with repetitive wrist, hand, or finger movement. Use of standard office equipment. Education Required: Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred: No additional education unless stated elsewhere. Certifications / Professional Licenses No specific certification or professional license required. Work Experience Laboratory experience (1 year) and relevant experience (1 year) preferred; no specific work experience required.
