Senior Valuations Associate

An Investment Management Firm based in New York City is seeking an experienced professional to join their team as a Senior Associate on their Valuations team. Responsibilities Lead and manage the quarterly valuation cycle across the private credit portfolio, coordinating timelines, deliverables, and communication with third-party valuation firms. Serve as the primary liaison to external valuation agents by reviewing analyses, challenging assumptions, and ensuring conclusions align with market conditions and portfolio performance. Prepare valuation summaries, presentations, and supporting materials for senior leadership and key stakeholders. Ensure compliance with internal valuation policies, ASC 820 fair value standards, and LP/regulatory reporting requirements. Partner closely with investment professionals to review and validate valuation models across a range of credit instruments, including senior secured loans, unitranche facilities, mezzanine debt, and structured products. Conduct independent assessments of key valuation assumptions, including market yield benchmarks, comparable transactions, and enterprise value analyses supporting loan-to-value metrics. Develop deep familiarity with portfolio companies and underlying credit positions to effectively challenge valuation recommendations and identify potential valuation risks. Evaluate and enhance the existing valuation workflow to improve efficiency, consistency, scalability, and audit readiness. Perform other duties, as needed. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. 5–8 years of experience in private credit valuation or a related function within an asset manager, BDC, credit fund, or Big 4 valuation/financial services practice. Strong knowledge of ASC 820 fair value measurement principles and their application to private credit investments. Hands‑on experience valuing leveraged loans and other credit instruments using methodologies such as yield analysis, market comparables, and enterprise value‑based frameworks. Advanced financial modeling and Excel skills, with the ability to work effectively across large and complex datasets. Exceptional analytical and detail‑oriented mindset, with the ability to identify inconsistencies and form well-supported valuation conclusions.
