Certified Nurse AssistantUnder the direction of licensed nursing personnel, performs direct and indirect designated resident care within the scope of practice as defined by certification. The Certified Nurse Assistant must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development across the lifespan. Possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to age-specific needs. Resident ADL needs are met as outlined in the plan of care and in accordance with policies and procedures, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment. Assists with hygiene, grooming, dressing, incontinence and catheter care, elimination and toileting needs, turning and positioning, and skin care. Documentation is completed per protocol. Maintains the resident environment and safety as outlined in the plan of care, including promptly answering call lights and alarms. Ensures cleanliness of the unit, monitors for equipment malfunctions, and implements behavior and fall prevention strategies. Meets residents' nutritional needs as outlined in the plan of care, including meal delivery and feeding assistance. Honors the preferences and choices of residents. Reports residents' rights, refusals, and concerns to the supervising nurse in a timely manner in accordance with policies and procedures. Identifies and reports changes in resident physical, emotional, and psychosocial status to the supervising nurse promptly. Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is reasonably anticipated.
