OpenText OES NDS Administrator

Job Summary: The OpenText OES/NDS Specialist is responsible for the specialized administration, health assessment, troubleshooting, deployment, and migration support of OpenText/Micro Focus OES and NDS/eDirectory services. This role ensures the stability, security, and performance of directory and file services while supporting integration with cross-platform environments. Responsibilities: Administer and troubleshoot OpenText Enterprise Server (OES) servers and services. Assess and maintain the health of NDS/eDirectory, including replicas, partitions, synchronization, schema, and time dependencies. Diagnose issues related to authentication, rights, LDAP, certificates, and directory replication. Support deployment, patching, upgrades, maintenance, and restoration of OES environments. Manage NSS, NCP, CIFS, file, identity, and printing services within the OES framework. Review directory logs, health-check outputs, and identify recurring faults. Maintain technical runbooks and recovery procedures to ensure operational readiness. Document integrations with Windows, Active Directory, DNS, printing, applications, and endpoints. Develop controlled coexistence and migration strategies for legacy to current platforms. Support emergency restoration processes and vendor escalation as needed. Transfer operational knowledge to internal teams and contractors. Maintain tested administrative access and recovery approaches. Required Skills & Certifications: Expertise in OpenText, Micro Focus, or Novell OES administration. Strong knowledge of NDS and eDirectory architecture and administration. Experience managing directory partitions, replicas, schema, synchronization, and repair. Proficiency with NSS, NCP, LDAP, certificate management, and identity services. Linux-based OES administration skills. Familiarity with OES print and file-service components. Experience with cross-platform integration involving Microsoft Active Directory. Minimum of five years supporting Novell, Micro Focus, or OpenText OES/NDS environments. Demonstrated ability in directory health monitoring, recovery, deployment, and migration. Strong documentation and training capabilities for legacy dependencies. Preferred Skills & Certifications: Current or prior certifications from OpenText, Micro Focus, or Novell. Linux administration certification. ITIL Foundation certification. Special Considerations: This role is highly specialized and considered a priority position due to recruitment difficulty. May require emergency restoration support and vendor escalation participation. Strict adherence to tested administrative access and recovery procedures is required.
