Lactation Consultant - Per Diem Evenings

About This Role The Lactation Consultant provides assessment, intervention, and education regarding breastfeeding to childbearing families choosing to breastfeed their infants. This role is ideal for those who are passionate about supporting families and enhancing breastfeeding practices within the Hackensack Meridian Health Network. Highlights Location: Neptune, NJ Facility: Hackensack Meridian Health Schedule: Per Diem, Evening What You'll Do Assess the patient's understanding of signs of adequate milk transfer and breastfeeding techniques. Communicate essential breastfeeding skills and information to mothers and families. Make follow-up phone calls to breastfeeding patients within one week of discharge. Formulate age-specific patient/family-centered goals based on assessment data. Establish and coordinate a patient/family-focused plan of care. Manage time effectively to provide satisfactory patient contact regarding breastfeeding support. Document all teaching and interventions provided to breastfeeding families. Assist with nursing staff competencies and physician education regarding breastfeeding. Adhere to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior. Perform other duties and/or projects as assigned. Requirements Education Associate's Degree required Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Nursing preferred Experience Minimum of 2 years as an OB nurse required Experience in lactation consultation in acute care, community, or public health setting preferred Licenses & Certifications Current NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License required AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification required International Board Certified Lactation Consultant preferred (required within 3 years of hire) About Hackensack Meridian Health Hackensack Meridian Health is a leading healthcare provider committed to delivering exceptional patient care.
