Lactation Consultant - F/T Nights

About This Role The Lactation Consultant provides assessment, intervention, and education regarding breastfeeding to childbearing families choosing to breastfeed their infants. This role is ideal for those passionate about supporting families in their breastfeeding journey. Highlights Location: Neptune, NJ Facility: Hackensack Meridian Health Schedule: Full-time, Night shift What You'll Do Assess the patient's understanding of signs of adequate milk transfer and breastfeeding techniques. Demonstrate age-specific competencies during direct patient interaction and interventions. Communicate essential breastfeeding skills and information to mothers and families. Make follow-up phone calls to breastfeeding patients within one week of discharge. Formulate age-specific patient/family-centered goals based on assessment data. Establish and coordinate a patient/family-focused plan of care. Plan own work within allotted hours and manage time effectively. Document all teaching and interventions provided to breastfeeding families. Assist with nursing staff competencies and physician education regarding breastfeeding. Adhere to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior. Requirements Education Associate's Degree required; Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Nursing preferred. Experience Minimum of 2 years as an OB nurse required. Experience in lactation consultation in acute care, community, or public health setting preferred. Licenses & Certifications Current NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License required. AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification required. International Board Certified Lactation Consultant preferred within 3 years of hire.
