Position Title: Director of Operations Job Summary: The Director of Operations performs administrative and supervisory work in the non‑academic operations of the school district. This includes the technical and administrative work directing, planning, and supervising school buildings and grounds, transportation, and nutrition services departments. The Director of Operations will report to the Executive Director of Business Services. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES This list is representative of, but is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and duties performed. Employees are required to be in attendance and prepared to begin work on the specified days and hours. Factors such as regular attendance are not routinely listed in job descriptions, but are an essential function. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: Develops and maintains integrated processes and solutions in collaboration with the Executive Director of Business Services and department leaders. Direct the work of leaders who are responsible for the daily operations and provide operational oversight for transportation, buildings and grounds and nutrition services departments including providing leadership, coordination, development, implementation and evaluation. District co‑liaison for all district safety and security including emergency response plans. Provides leadership, resources and training for District Safety and Security Team (DSST) safety and security plans. Ensures compliance and testing of plans. Manages budgets, approving purchases and coding expenditures. Develops, implements, and ensures accountability for the district's Long‑Term Facility Maintenance (LTFM) plan. Serves as district leadership representative for all construction projects. Demonstrates cultural responsiveness and leads departmental work for equity, including equitable resource allocation. Monitors operations within each department to ensure maximum productivity and efficiency. Improves the operational systems, processes and policies in support of the district strategic plan. Monitor and direct oversight of budgets for student nutrition, transportation, and buildings and grounds departments. Responds to, investigates and reports incidents or accidents involving transportation vehicles and buses. Ensure operations in the Nutrition, Transportation, and Buildings and Grounds departments are carried out in compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, and district policies, regulations and guidelines. Other duties as apparent or assigned. QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS Education: Bachelors or equivalent experience Major field of study or degree emphasis: Business administration and management, facility or transportation management or other related degree field. Essential knowledge and specialized subject knowledge required to perform the essential functions of the job: Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human capital management, leadership and coordination resources. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service. Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel training, supervision and leadership, labor relations, motivating, developing and directing employees. Ability to effectively monitor and prioritize work. Good judgment and decision making. Skilled in technical details regarding facility management, safety and security, transportation and nutrition services operations. Ability to relate and communicate effectively with people of different cultural, ethnic, and socio‑economic backgrounds; Skills in interpreting policies and procedures; Ability to listen and use conflict resolution strategies. Adept in building collaborative relationships; Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other employees, leaders, and external partners. Ability to maintain regular attendance which includes completing an assigned day and periodic evening and weekend obligations.
