Travel RN - ICU

American Traveler is seeking an ICU RN with at least 2 years of critical care experience and an active IL license for a night shift assignment at a Magnet critical access hospital.

Job Details

• Work in a 4-bed ICU/CCU unit of a Magnet-designated critical access hospital,
• 1:2 patient ratio for all shifts,
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 1900-0730),
• Required to work every other weekend,
• No on-call requirements,
• Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities as needed,
• Cerner EMR experience preferred,

Job Requirements

• Active Illinois RN license required in hand at time of consideration,
• Minimum 2 years of ICU/CCU experience required,
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS (PALS preferred),
• AHA and Red Cross certifications accepted; RQI cards not accepted,
• Experience with cardiac monitoring including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias,
• Experience obtaining 12 lead EKGs and managing multi-system organ failure,
• IV insulin protocol and chronic/acute renal failure experience required,
• IV therapy skills required including arterial line, central line, PICC line management, blood product administration, and starting IVs,
• Experience with continuous IV paralytics, sedation, emergency medications, and titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips,
• Respiratory/thoracic skills required including ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP management, HFNC, ABG interpretation, chest tube assistance, and suctioning,
• Experience with infection prevention, isolation precautions/PPE use, and surgical wound/wound vac care,
• SSN and date of birth required for consideration,

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to ICU/CCU patients including cardiac, respiratory, and renal cases,
• Facility is a 25-staffed-bed, Magnet-designated critical access hospital,
• Scrubs may be any solid color,
• Parking permit required but provided at no cost, completed during orientation,
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply,
• Previous permanent or PRN employees must be separated from the facility for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler,
• Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction,
• RTO ideally limited to no more than 5 days,
• Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays,
• Travel pairs are not accepted by the facility
