Job Title: ER Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Emergency Room License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS Must-Have: - 2 years of experience in Emergency Room required - Ability to cross train to cover charge occasionally - Pass/Fail exam during orientation, with a requirement of 90% to pass - Must comply with fingernail policy: artificial nails are prohibited Description: We are looking for an experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurse. Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in an ER setting. This position requires occasional cross-training to cover charge nurse duties. The night shift is not a heavy volume department. During orientation, RNs will take a pass/fail exam to assess skill knowledge. Resources will be provided to help RNs achieve the passing score of 90%. Fingernail policy prohibits artificial nails in any patient care department. Failure to comply with this policy will result in termination. The ER typically sees patients of all ages with a variety of common diagnoses. These include chest pain, abdominal pain, cough/congestion, orthopedic injuries, ENT emergencies, sepsis, and stroke. Common drips administered include antibiotics, narcotics, anti-emetics, vaccines, and emergency medications. There will be a charge nurse on each shift who will take patient assignments. The schedule will be created by leadership based on department needs. Weekend and holiday shifts will be required. Orientation for the unit will involve two shifts. Successful candidates will demonstrate attributes such as compassion, teamwork, high energy, positivity, and a can-do attitude. Additional time off must be communicated upfront, with limits on changes after submission. The hospital maintains the right to cancel up to 4 shifts within the 13-week assignment. Charting will be completed using the EPIC system.
