Senior Accountant

Senior AccountantOur client is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their corporate accounting team in Pittsburgh. This role will be responsible for a variety of accounting, financial reporting, month-end close, technical accounting, and audit-related activities.The ideal candidate will have strong general ledger and financial reporting experience, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to research and apply accounting guidance to complex transactions. Public accounting experience and a CPA are highly preferred.Overview Of The Senior Accountant Role:Support the preparation and review of external financial statements and internal management reportsPrepare and analyze financial information to support business and management decisionsResearch, analyze, and document technical accounting matters and financial statement disclosuresMonitor and evaluate new accounting standards and assess their impact on the organizationPrepare and record accurate journal entries for assigned accounts and transactionsReconcile assigned general ledger accounts and investigate variances or discrepanciesReview and maintain intercompany balances and ensure accounts are properly reconciledAssist with quarterly and year-end external audit requests and supporting schedulesSupport the preparation of quarterly and year-end financial reporting packagesMaintain and update accounting policies in response to new accounting guidance and business developmentsParticipate in SOX compliance activities, including documentation, control testing, and reportingPerform financial analysis and special projects to support management decision-makingProvide accounting guidance, training, and support to Senior and Staff AccountantsCollaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve accounting and reporting issuesIdentify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and reportingPerform other accounting and finance duties as assignedPreferred Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field3+ years of progressive accounting experience; public accounting experience strongly preferredCPA certification or active pursuit of CPA preferredStrong understanding of GAAP and accounting principlesExperience with general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparationStrong analytical, problem-solving, and research skills
