Automation Controls Technician

Becton Dickinson seeks an Automation Controls Technician to maintain and optimize automated manufacturing systems at its Sumter, South Carolina facility. The role involves hands-on work with electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical equipment, PLC troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and collaboration with engineering and production teams.

Responsibilities

• Set up, maintain, and calibrate electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems on production equipment
• Execute scheduled preventive maintenance tasks and document maintenance activities
• Diagnose and resolve equipment issues using PLC knowledge and technical schematics
• Support installation, debugging, and startup of new automated equipment with Engineering
• Collaborate with production teams and maintain detailed equipment logs and process documentation

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED plus minimum 4 years of electronics, industrial, or manufacturing experience
• Associate degree in Mechatronics, Industrial Electronics, or related technical field preferred
• Hands-on experience with electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and Ohm's Law application
• Foundational PLC programming and ladder logic interpretation skills
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
